The Importance of Sugar-Based Products
Responding to a more educated, demanding and savvy Generation X consumer, the Sugar Association launched a new web site for all natural sugar-based products. "Consumers are looking for natural, high-quality products," said Andrew C. Briscoe, III, President and CEO of the Association. "We wanted to provide consumers with a choice," he continued. The growth in natural products also provided motivation to launch the new site. Sugar (sucrose) is naturally grown from sugar cane and sugar beets.
The market is expanding and experts say that factors like taste, value and superiority of products have become every bit as important as low-cost and high-volume. "Consumers don't mind paying a little more for quality," says Briscoe. According to a special Mediaweek report, "...people are coming back to what they enjoy the most." In an era where consumers are bombarded with confusing information about the products they purchase, the new web site provides consumers with product information that allows them an opportunity to return to "basics" where they can depend on the products being reliable and dependable for themselves and their families.
All natural sugar-based products featured on the site currently fall into three categories: beverages, food products and cosmetics. Abita Root Beer, Dublin Dr. Pepper and POP The Soda Shop are highlighted. Coconut Spa Coconut Sugar Body Rub, Get Fresh Moisturizing Sugar Rub and Me! Bath Ice Cream Bath Fizzies along with Florida Crystals Sugar also are featured.
